Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need a hearing test?

Hearing deterioration can happen so gradually that you may not even realize it. Our tests will help you know the health of your hearing abilities. Hearing tests are one of the mandatory components in WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety Regulation 7 and should be conducted annually.

How long does a hearing test take?

A hearing test with consultation takes anywhere from 8-15 minutes depending on the needs of the individual. We promote collaboration on improving testing efficiencies to help maximize the number of tests per hour and minimize your testing unit cost.

How does a hearing test work?

We use pure-tone testing to determine the faintest tone a person can hear at specific pitches. The person being tested is placed in a sound insulated booth and given earphones and a clicker to obtain this information. The results are recorded on an audiogram and explained at the end of the test.

Are custom molded ear plugs the best form of hearing protection?

The best type of hearing protection is the one you will wear consistently and properly. Custom molded ear plugs can provide a better fit and comfortability that can last up to three years. Although disposable ear plugs and muffs can protect your ears just as well, communication demands, climate, and use of other personal protection equipment must also be considered. Matched with an appropriate filter, our custom ear plugs are designed for you.
